Luxury Living on the Bourbon Trail in the heart of Horse Country

Rare. Exquisite. Refined.

It’s how you describe the Thoroughbred horse standing proudly in the Derby Winner’s Circle, or the absolute pinnacle of bourbon produced by Kentucky’s legendary distilleries.

And it’s how you’ll describe your stay at Glencairn Knoll, our gorgeous retreat in the quiet, gently rolling hills outside of Louisville.

Like our namesake – the curved hand-blown glass crafted specifically to heighten the enjoyment of the world’s most elegant bourbons and whiskeys – Glencairn Knoll is a masterpiece inside and out, designed to elevate your experience in every appreciable way. Gourmet kitchen, huge living room, 5 King beds and a Queen, Speakeasy, pool, spa, game room, pool table, Karaoke Lounge…this is what indulgence feels like.

Our home is perched majestically atop the highest rise on our beautiful 3.5 acre property, nestled among mature champion and coffeetrees, manicured lawn, and beautiful new landscape. The grand entrance has a rustic and nostalgic charm, with its huge brick porch and wooden rocking chairs, view windows with board and batten shutters, and custom wooden double entry doors with etched glass inlay.

Inside our spacious home, Glencairn Knoll seamlessly blends Upper South farmhouse touches, Kentucky contemporary, and mid-century modern sensibility for the perfect getaway experience. There’s plenty of room for you and your group to gather and enjoy, plus intimate areas to spread out for more privacy and seclusion. Our south-facing backyard ensures the home is bathed in warm sunlight, keeping the house bright and cheerful throughout the day.

Our Living Room is large and exudes the upbeat warmth and richness of a modern Kentucky classic, with plenty of comfortable seating, lovely décor, and dimmable chandeliers to set just the right mood. The centerpiece is the gas fireplace set into the whitewashed brick hearth and wall, and you’ll appreciate finer touches like the live edge wood coffee table, plank floors, big plush couch, and local art. There’s a flat screen TV with YouTube TV, and just beyond the windows is your view of our beautiful wooded property.

For Those Who Love To Cook – And Eat!

There are gourmet kitchens, then there is a Glencairn Knoll gourmet kitchen. It’s huge, gorgeous, and equipped with everything you need to whip up a fast Sunday brunch or a full-scale Thanksgiving feast for a dozen guests. Our chef’s kitchen features expansive granite countertops, 5-burner gas stovetop, a pair of Samsung smart convection ovens that provide recipes and cooking directions, microwave with pot filler, instant pot, air fryer, crockpot, non-stick electric skillet, and small food processor.

There’s a huge black stainless steel Samsung side-by-side refrigerator / freezer for food storage, and a matching dishwasher to make post-meal cleanup fast and easy. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, griddle, Cansghan knives, and all the accoutrements you need, including a Keurig coffee maker and complimentary pods to kickstart your mornings. BBQ cooking gear and dishware, glassware, and utensils for outdoor dining are at the ready, and there’s plenty of storage for pantry and dry food items. The BBQ is conveniently located just outside the kitchen, and the propane tank is ready to go!

The lengthy kitchen island seats seven comfortably, and the adjacent nook table seats an additional six. Recessed and decorative lighting keep the gourmet kitchen bright, and natural light streams in through the kitchen window and double doors, which overlook the pool and the seemingly endless backyard.

A custom-built wrap-around wood and iron staircase leads to a second-floor landing with view windows overlooking the knolls and trees for miles. The spacious seating area is furnished with leather club chairs, live tree, bourbon barrel table, and a pair of skylights for natural illumination. A large covered outdoor deck overlooks the pool, firepit, and wooded backyard, and its decorative solar lights glow to life when the sun drops below the horizon.

Elevate Your Entertainment

Glencairn Knoll is designed to entertain and delight, with activities and amenities for all ages.

Just beyond the upstairs landing is our Speakeasy, an intimate nod to a not-so-forgotten past. This richly decorated and unique space features gorgeous mid-century modern furniture, steamer trunk turned coffee (bourbon?) table, bar cart, and exposed brick wall. It overlooks the pool and firepit, and has lovely views of the Glencairn Knoll estate.

On the first floor is the beautiful pool table, with its rich wood, midnight black felt surface, and leather details.

The basement level is pure fun! Downstairs is the huge game room featuring a 6-seat poker table and chip set, kicker table, electronic darts, Bop-it, 3-foot-by-3-foot Connect 4 game, adult-sized Twister, and more. There’s plenty of space for the entire group to gather and enjoy, and what activity is guaranteed to get everyone laughing? Karaoke, of course! Our dedicated Karaoke Lounge has a digital karaoke machine with easy instructions and lyrics, plenty of comfortable couch seating, and two adult-sized bean bag chairs for the audience. Neon signs and a strobe light kit paint the room, and there’s a Silver Stream backdrop appropriate for singers ranging from diva to…well…cringe-worthy.

Preserving Kentucky History

Kentucky’s history is as storied as it is unique, and we are actively preserving a small part of that history right here. At the far rear edge of our estate property is a stand of trees that surround a dozen modest headstones and markers. These unassuming chiseled stones note the final resting place of several members of the Leet Family, a pioneering brood that settled throughout this county in the late 1700s and early 1800s. This unadorned area is identified as Leet Cemetery 3 by the Oldham County Historical Society, and we are the proud caretakers, ensuring upkeep and preservation of this small part of Kentucky’s rich history. Our Guests are welcome to hike to this beautiful spot and pay a visit. We ask that you take care when visiting, keep a respectful distance, and refrain from touching or interacting with the monuments in any way, as they are aged and incredibly fragile.
